There are so many reasons to practice different breath techniques. Study after study show benefits ranging from lowering blood pressure, to increasing resiliency and focus skills, to reducing cortisol and stress inducing hormones throughout the bloodstream, to activating neuro -regulating areas of your brain.
This video was filmed right after I received some difficult news. I wanted to scream and blame someone or something for the unfortunate situation. I am now HAVING TO practice what I preach more and more because it seems life is not getting easier. So I share this quick technique with you. Practice now before you actually need it.
There are three aspects to this short session: (a) Education on posture while you are breathing-keeping your ribcage more level so your diaphragm can be in a better place for the breath's excursion, (b) Some movement that initiates mindfulness instead of a monkey mind that is trying to sit and be still, and (c) My favorite position to give you awareness to all the areas that your body should feel airflow... the sides and back portion of your ribcage.
Breath is a power tool. Practicing techniques before you need them is paramount. The clarity and calmness that you get from breathing efficiently and slowly is priceless. Join me! (Click pic or here).
